What to Expect at the Abode

UPDATE (11/26/2020): I’m finally getting past my avoidance/anxiety and trying to start to write and publish at the Abode. Obviously, a lot has happened since 2017! Trump is gone…not yet, but almost! My in-laws are still here…but maybe not for long! My wife and I bought a house after we had our second, and last, child. She’s my babygirl but is one of my major stressors, so I’m still learning to manage my stress and patience with her. I can’t get mad because she is so much like me! My son got most of my “good” qualities. My daughter got most of everything. Life is fun! I took a 10k/year pay cut to teach closer to home, in my community, rather than spend 3 hours a day in the car.

I’ve found a new therapist in the area and am finally on effective medication for depression and anxiety. I’ve been feeling good for the last several months.

I also plan on interacting with visitors to the Abode, which I absolutely did not do in the past. It feels good to be back here! I want to write more about mental health awareness. Over the last few year, my focus has shifted from ranting about religion and promoting atheism to skepticism, reasoning, and logical fallacies and biases. I’m fascinated with why we believe what we believe and how do we think about what we believe.

Thank you for visiting the Atheist’s Abode. You may refer to me as Dude or Freddie. Contributors may pop in from time to time

I’m an atheist, skeptic, and humanist. I refer to myself as an “active atheist”. In my 40s, I am finally becoming a secular activist. I will write about atheism and skeptical/critical thinking, religions (especially Christianity), rants about everyday shit, mental health awareness, and beer. I am a special education teacher and am going through a psychoeducational assessment. I’m not a tech guy, so bare with me through this process. Creating The Atheist’s Abode has already helped me to focus my energy in a more positive way and to become more organized. Feel free to give any advice or feedback.

I just created a Twitter and Facebook page to accompany this site. A podcast is in the works with Fergus. Feel free to give any advice or feedback.
